F1, Red Bull annonce l’arrivée de Sergio Perez pour remplacer Alex Albon, la Thaïlande dans la tristesse.

Le Mexicain Sergio Perez remplacera le Thaïlandais Alexander Albon chez Red Bull en 2021, il sera le nouveau coéquipier du Néerlandais Max Verstappen, a annoncé l’écurie de F1 dans un communiqué.

« Je suis tellement reconnaissant envers Red Bull de me donner l’opportunité de rouler pour Red Bull Racing pour 2021. La chance de rouler pour une écurie qui joue le titre est quelque chose que j’espère depuis que j’ai commencé la F1 et ce sera un grand moment de fierté d’apparaître sur la grille dans les couleurs de Red Bull aux côtés de Max. Vous pouvez être sûrs que je vais tout donner la saison prochaine. L’équipe à la même mentalité de vainqueur que moi et je sais que je suis ici pour faire des résultats et pour aider l’équipe à se battre pour un nouveau titre », a-t-il déclaré sur le site de l’écurie.

Quand à Alex Albon il reste tout de même chez Red Bull, il devient pilote d’essai et de réserve dans l’optique du développement de la voiture de 2022.

Sergio Perez contracted to drive for Red Bull Racing in 2021

The Mexican to race alongside Max Verstappen for the team in 2021.

Red Bull Racing can today confirm that Sergio Perez will join the Team and race alongside Max Verstappen in the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship.

Current driver Alex Albon remains an important member of the Team and takes on the role of Red Bull Racing Test and Reserve Driver with a key focus on 2022 development, simulator work and tyre testing.

Sergio made his Grand Prix debut in 2011 and since then has become one of the sport’s most consistent performers and tenacious racers. Sergio’s recent run of form and victory at the Sakhir Grand Prix made him the favoured choice to join Red Bull Racing, initially on a one year contract.

Red Bull Racing Team Principal, Christian Horner, said: “Alex is a valued member of the Team and we thought long and hard about this decision. Having taken our time to evaluate all the relevant data and performances we have decided that Sergio is the right driver to partner Max for 2021 and look forward to welcoming him to Red Bull Racing. Alex remains an important part of our Team as Test and Reserve Driver with a key focus on 2022 development and we would like to thank him for his hard work and contribution.”
