par Aux mains de Nyck de Vries, l’Aurus 01-Gibson n°26 s’est assurée la pole position des 4 Heures de Barcelone dans un ultime effort sous le drapeau à damier. Le Néerlandais signe un temps de 1’38’’788, délogeant pour seulement 0’’079 l’Oreca n°41 de Louis Deletraz (Orlen Team WRT).
Ben Hanley et son Oreca n°21 (DragonSpeed USA) ont brièvement pointé en tête, avant d’achever cette séance en quatrième position, derrière l’Oreca n°65 de Will Stevens (Panis Racing). La performance de Hanley (1’32’’402) permet toutefois à la n°21 d’être la plus rapide des concurrents LMP2 Pro/Am, à 0’’120 de Stevens et 0’’614 de la pole position.
LMP3 : une pole position extrêmement serrée pour Tappy
A l’issue des 10 minutes de la séance qualificative LMP3 des 4 Heures de Barcelone, le top 3 est séparé de seulement 62 centièmes de seconde, pour ce qui est peut-être la qualification la plus serrée de l’ELMS.
Duncan Tappy s’est adjugé la pole position en 1’39’’162 en fin de séance au volant de la Ligier n°3 de United Autosports, repoussant en deuxième position la Ligier n°15 de Malthe Jakobsen (RLR MSport) pour seulement 0’’021.
Le champion en titre Wayne Boyd (Ligier n°2, United Autosports) était bien parti pour signer la première pole position 2021, qu’il a brièvement détenue (1’39’’224), mais qui lui échappe pour une marge des plus étroites entre les deux premiers. Il sera rejoint sur la deuxième ligne de la catégorie LMP3 par la Duqueine n°4 de Laurents Hörr (DKR Engineering), auteur d’un temps de 1’39’’341, à moins de deux dixièmes de la pole.
LMGTE Bruni et Proton Competition en pole position sous le drapeau à damier
Sur la Porsche 911 RSR-19 n°77 de Proton Competition, Gianmaria Bruni a conquis la première pole position LMGTE de l’année dans son dernier tour lancé. En 1’41’’892, l’Italien prive Miguel Molina d’une pole à domicile, après que l’Espagnol et sa Ferrari 488 GTE EVO n°80 (Iron Lynx) aient figuré en tête en 1’42’’041 pendant l’essentiel de ces dix minutes de qualifications.
Demain, la deuxième ligne des 4 Heures de Barcelone sera emmenée par une autre Ferrari Iron Lynx, la n°83 de Rahel Frey (1’42’’266), qui précède de trois dixièmes la Porsche n°93 de Richard Lietz (Proton Competition).
Le départ des 4 Heures de Barcelone sera donné dimanche 18 avril à 11h00, heure de Paris.

Nyck De Vries snatches pole position at Barcelona
The no26 G-Drive Racing Aurus 01-Gibson, with Nyck De Vries at the wheel, secured pole position for the 4 Hours of Barcelona with a last gasp effort at the chequered flag.
The Dutch driver posted a 1m31.788 lap time, pushing the no41 Orlen Team WRT Oreca of Louis Deletraz down a place by just 0.079s.
Ben Hanley briefly held the top spot in the no21 DragonSpeed USA Oreca before finishing the session in 4th place behind the no65 Panis Racing Oreca of Will Stevens, however Hanley’s 1m32.402 lap made the no21 car the fastest of the seven Pro-Am runners, 0.120s behind Stevens and 0.614s from the overall pole.
LMP3: Too Close to Call As Tappy Takes Pole
At the end of the 10-minute qualifying session for the LMP3 grid for the 4 Hours of Barcelona the top three cars were split by just 62 hundredths of a second in possibly the closest every ELMS qualifying.
Duncan Tappy secured the pole with a 1m39.162 lap late in the session in the no3 United Autosports Ligier, pushing the no15 RLR MSport Ligier of Malthe Jakobsen down to second by just 0.021s.
Reigning champion Wayne Boyd made a bid for the first pole of 2021 in the no2 United Autosports Ligier and briefly held the top spot with a 1m39.224 lap, only to be denied by the narrowest of margins by the top two cars and will be joined on row 2 of the LMP3 grid by the no4 DKR Engineering Duqueine after Laurents Hörr put in a 1m39.341 lap, a time that was still less than two tenths off pole.
LMGTE: Bruni Takes Pole for Proton Competition as Chequered Flag Waved
Gianmaria Bruni took the first pole position on his last flying lap in the no77 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR-19. The Italian posted a 1m41.892 to deny Miguel Molina a home pole position in the no80 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GTE EVO after the Spanish driver had held the top spot for almost all of the 10-minute session with a 1m42.041 lap.
Row two for tomorrow’s 4 Hours of Barcelona will be headed by the no83 Iron Lynx Ferrari after Rahel Frey finished the session with a 1n42.266, three tenths ahead of the no93 Proton Competition Porsche of Richard Lietz.
The 4 Hours of Barcelona is due to begin at 11h00 on Sunday 18 April.
